Summary

The Washington Humane Society (WHS) is the only Congressionally-chartered animal welfare agency in the United States. WHS has been the DC area’s leading voice for animals since 1870. As the only open-access shelter in the Nation’s Capital, the Washington Humane Society provides comfort and care to nearly 30,000 animals each year through its broad range of programs and services. WHS came to Firefly in need of a new website redesign. On their original site, WHS used the PetPoint system, a database that manages information about WHS’ animals available for adoption. WHS wanted to integrate PetPoint into their new website designed by Firefly.

WHS was looking for a way to seamlessly integrate their PetPoint adoption system into their new website design. A successful solution would allow WHS to stay with their same database system, while better delivering information on animals for adoption to site users.

Firefly loves beautiful and easy to navigate databases and we were excited to dig into this one. The Firefly team integrated the PetPoint system into WHS’ adoption section of their website. Our developers used an iframe solution, integrating the PetPoint data into WHS’ PageBuilder website pages. The final product? A page where site visitors and potential adopters are able to view a list of all available animals and click on the individual animals’ profiles to view photos and more details. Potential adopters can also further sort their animal search by selecting the shelter, species, gender and age group that they’re interested in adopting.
