Client: Boys' Club of New York

Located in three diverse New York City neighborhoods, The Boys' Club of New York (BCNY) provides a wide range of activities to boys between the ages of 6 and 18 across the city. While BCNY had been keeping up a website for years, they needed something fresh to strengthen their engagement with members, alumni, parents, donors and the greater New York community. BCNY hired Firefly to lead a website redesign.

Problem

The BCNY site was out of date. It didn’t engage all of the organization’s supporters effectively and failed to leverage relationships with alumni, donors, parents and BCNY members. The content was relatively static. Firefly knew BCNY was doing incredible work and was maintaining these relationships, though rarely keeping connected with them in the online communications sphere.

Solution

Firefly and BCNY kicked off the website project by bringing all organizational stakeholders together for a discovery session. Through brainstorming, daydreaming and setting concrete goals, the Firefly team then created a concrete site development plan. By identifying BCNY’s unique online needs during the session, Firefly gained clarity on what tools and platforms best fit the BCNY team’s needs.

We decided on the winning combination of Soapbox and Salsa, and integrated these seamlessly into a site that now keeps BCNY engaging with all of its constituents.  The new site aesthetic is both modern and inviting, intended to attract both young men and the adults that support The Boys’ Club of New York. The BCNY crew can easily update the site and better streamline their communications and fundraising online.
