Client: Tufts Medical Center

Tufts Medical Center, based in Boston, is an academic medical center whose goal is to offer the best patient care while teaching future physicians the best in medical care and ethics. The Medical Center was founded in 1796 with contributions from local Bostonians. It still relies on supporters today. The Medical Center's Development Department knew their Giving page needed some love. While the functionality worked, the Giving Pages didn't clearly communication the Medical Center's message and the information was difficult to navigate. Firefly was hired on to refresh the Giving section of the website with a better layout and messaging that more clearly presented the fundraising team's priorities.

Problem

The layout of the Tufts Medical Center site’s Giving section was difficult to navigate and failed to capture the amazing work donors supported. Donation links were difficult to find for visitors to the general Tufts Medical Center Site and information on the main Giving didn’t highlight any specific programs, activities, publications or opportunities to give.

Solution

After evaluating the needs of the Tufts Medical Center’s fundraising team, Firefly defined the primary priority of re-doing the Giving section was to create a clear path to online giving for site visitors. The fundraising team also wanted to present other opportunities for site visitors to get involved with Tufts Medical Center, including taking part in their annual events and browsing the Medical Center’s Fund publications.

Firefly first created new site navigation and mapped out how this navigation would list additional pages in an easy-to-browse style. Firefly then created a new wireframe for the landing page that highlighted ways to give in large clickable boxes: Donate Now, Give Monthly and Other Ways to Give. This landing page makes it easy for site visitors to navigate all the ways they can engage as a Tufts’ Medical Center Donor. Firefly also assisted the Tufts Medical Center staff in creating new donations forms that are easy to use, encourage users to donate at higher levels, and match the look and feel of the current website.
